Opioids
This page identifies interoperability needs, associated technical standards, and implementation specifications within the ISA that support high-priority health IT functions, including EHRs, in the prevention, treatment, and management of opioid use disorder (OUD) and other substance use disorders (SUDs). These interoperability capabilities are critical for enabling data exchange that supports coordinated care, enhances clinical decision-making, and improves outcomes across the continuum of care. While this list focuses on OUD and SUDs, many of the identified needs and standards are also applicable to other medical specialties and care settings. ASTP/ONC welcomes feedback to expand and refine this list to further advance interoperability and improve health outcomes.
