The 2014 Edition Test Method was formally approved on December 14, 2012 by the national coordinator and is now effective for use in ONC Health IT Certification Program. Notice of the approval appears in the January 2, 2013 Federal Register.

Per the 21st Century Cures Act: Interoperability, Information Blocking, and the ONC Health IT Certification Program Final Rule, effective June 30, 2020, the 2014 Edition certification criteria and related standards, terms and requirements have been removed from the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) (77 FR 54163, 79 FR 54429). The 2014 Edition Test Method (test procedures, tools and data) has been archived and 2014 Edition certified products will be marked as “retired” on the Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL).
