Establishing realistic, measureable goals and objectives for EHR implementation is critical to determine whether or not an implementation was successful.  These guidelines include examples that can be used to assist with goal and objective development.  They also outline several dimensions upon which a practice can establish goals and objectives. The last section provides a template to document specific goals and objectives.
