Anita Somplasky serves as the Director for the Physician Quality Measures Development , as well as for both of Pennsylvania’s Regional Extension Centers (RECs). The Measures work is part of a MIDS IDIQ project with CMS to develop quality measures for physicians and non-physicians used for reporting of quality measures through the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and Meaningful Use (MU) program. Her experience includes the oversight and development of 11 measures, including the e-prescribing and BMI quality measure,s now used in the Meaningful Use program. In this role, she brings over 30 years of clinical, practice management and quality improvement experience to oversee end to end development, testing and validation of clinical quality measures for use in Value Based Purchasing programs for CMS.
As the Director for Pennsylvania’s two RECs, PA REACH East and PA REACH West,. Ms. Somplasky is responsible for the performance of both RECs, which are dedicated to providing the technical assistance to implement and meaningfully use electronic health records (EHRs). Under her guidance, more than 6000 priority primary care providers in Pennsylvania’s 67 counties have been assisted. In this role she brings over 20 years of nursing experience in Quality Improvement, Practice Management and Patient Centered Medical Home training to provide programmatic oversight , management and leadership for all REC deliverables. She is also responsible for networking with local, state, and national agencies for program development, including the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and Pennsylvania’s Department of Public Welfare (DPW) program. Under Ms. Somplasky’s supervision, REC staff are also working on several Million Hearts related CDC grants administered through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
