As Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Atrius Health, Dr. Kimura provides executive management for five departments including Quality and Performance Measurement, Clinical Variation and Quality Standards, Clinical Research, Medical Education, and Analytics and Reporting Systems.
Dr. Kimura continues to provide direct strategic and operational leadership for the improvement of enterprise clinical and business intelligence systems. Prior to this role, Dr. Kimura spent several years leading the development and implementation of frontline clinical quality and operational process improvement initiatives both at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Boston, MA and Southern California Permanente Medical Group in Orange County, CA.
Dr. Kimura is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University before returning to St. Louis for his medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine. He completed a primary care internal medicine residency at the University of California San Francisco and a two-year general medicine health services research fellowship in the Department of Ambulatory Care and Prevention at Harvard Medical School. During his fellowship, he received his MPH from Harvard School of Public Health in healthcare management and policy.
Dr. Kimura is board certified in internal medicine and maintains a weekly clinical practice at the Harvard Vanguard Kenmore Office near Fenway Park in Boston.
