Time to Chime In: ISA Comment Period Is Now Open

It’s that time of year again! The annual comment period for the Interoperability Standards Advisory (ISA) will be open from July 28 – September 30. This is an opportunity for you to provide comments, suggest revisions, and propose additions to the ISA before we publish the 9th Annual ISA Reference Edition in January 2023. Of course, you are welcome to provide comments on the ISA at any time during the year, but please submit your comments by September 30th if you would like your suggestions to be considered as part of the 2023 ISA Reference Edition!

New Testing Method Available for Standardized API Criterion

ONC has approved the Drummond Group’s Drummond G10+ FHIR API powered by Touchstone tool, a new alternative test method (ATM) for testing conformance to ONC’s §170.315(g)(10) Standardized API for patient and population services certification criterion. Through this new ATM, software developers will now have a new option for conformance testing in addition to the previously approved Inferno (g)(10) Standardized API Test Kit. The approval of Drummond’s testing method continues ONC’s mission to further diversify the suite of test methods used as part of the ONC Health IT Certification Program.

FAST Continues FHIR Scalability Work as a New HL7 FHIR Accelerator

The HL7® Fast Heathcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR ®) at Scale Taskforce (FAST) initiative has officially left the nest and taken flight!  In 2017, ONC spearheaded the FHIR at Scale Taskforce, a public-private partnership with industry stakeholders, to accelerate the scalability of FHIR across the industry. Since its inception, FAST grew larger and shifted focus from identifying FHIR scalability challenges to proposing new solutions, including new standards development, so it made sense for FAST to find a new home.
