Make a difference in Health IT Policy and Help Set the Standards

Michelle Consolazio | February 5, 2014

Join one of our federal advisory committees and be a part of what has been called one of the most open and transparent panels in government.

ONC is seeking applications for membership to its Federal Advisory Committees (FACAs):  Health IT Standards Committee (HITSC) and Health IT Policy Committee (HITPC).

If you are interested in becoming a member of the HITPC or HITSC, please submit an application using ONC’s application database.  Applications for HITSC and HITPC membership will be accepted until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014.  ONC will use this database to not only fill expiring committee member terms, but also to identify members for new workgroups, and to refresh the membership of current workgroups.

The HITSC is seeking applications from the spectrum of stakeholders interested in the implementation of health IT and health IT policy. If you have expertise in one of the following areas, we are looking to fill a number of vacancies created due to expiring terms. There are openings for a:

  • Consumer/Patient Representative
  • Technical Expertise, Electronic Exchange
  • Technical Expertise, Quality

The HITPC is seeking applications for the following area of expertise to fill an expiring term:

  • Public Health Representative

The extraordinary work of our FACAs often result in recommendations to the National Coordinator.  All deliberations are held publicly, promoting transparency throughout the recommendations process.

We are extremely fortunate to have the support of such a remarkable group of experts who generously volunteer their time and expertise to better our healthcare system through the use of HIT.  If you are interested in joining this incredible group, please submit an application using ONC’s application database.
