Practice Fusion

Dr. Loomis is head of health informatics and medical affairs at Practice Fusion. In this role, he works closely with the commercial and technology teams providing clinical guidance throughout the product lifecycle. Additionally, he oversees research and analytics, including real world evidence and health outcomes studies. He is actively involved as a thought leader in the healthcare IT community and currently serves on the HIMSS EHR Association executive committee. Prior to joining Practice Fusion, Richard led informatics at Kaiser Permanente in Southern California. His team’s initiatives focused on analytics, natural language processing (NLP), clinical decision support (CDS), and HCC/RAF and E/M coding. Dr. Loomis completed a fellowship in biomedical informatics at Harvard Medical School and trained in anesthesiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan and Bachelor of Science from Cornell University. Outside of the office, Dr. Loomis enjoys traveling with his wife, collecting wine, and making maple syrup.
