The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) offers incentive payments to eligible providers who demonstrate the meaningful use of electronic health records (EHRs). For assistance with implementation, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has funded Regional Extension Centers (RECs) located in every region of the country to help health care providers implement EHRs and demonstrate meaningful use.
