In ONC’s office of policy, the strategic planning and coordination (SPC) division is responsible for ONC-wide strategic planning, objective setting, performance tracking and reporting, and federal coordination. Kim is the performance management lead for ONC and a health specialist on the SPC team. She is responsible for ensuring the performance management portfolio aligns with ONC leadership decisions related to setting priorities and objectives, planning, performance, milestone tracking, resource allocation, risk management, and program evaluation.

Ensuring Health IT API Accessibility for Seamless Data Exchange

It’s been just over a year since certified Health IT developers aligned their Health IT Modules with the requirements outlined in the Cures Act Final Rule. As part of this transformative update, developers of certified application programming interface (API) technology completed certification to 45 CFR 170.315(g)(10) Standardized API for patient and population services. We’re excited to report that as of this blog post’s publication, over 290 products have been certified to §170.315(g)(10) within the ONC Health IT Certification Program (Certification Program).

FHIR Roadmap for TEFCA Exchange V.2: FHIR APIs are on their Way into TEFCA Exchange

On December 11, 2023, ONC and the TEFCA Recognized Coordinating Entity® (RCETM), The Sequoia Project, released the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR)® Roadmap for TEFCASM Exchange V.2.  This version updates the previous roadmap and continues the momentum already established by providing more details and guidance for the future of FHIR in TEFCA.

Last week I had the opportunity to testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee. During this second hearing on artificial intelligence (AI), I shared work that I’m doing on behalf of HHS to support President Biden’s Executive Order on harnessing the potential and mitigating the risks of AI.
