The IHE-PCD profile combines the HL7 syntax with the ISO/IEEE 11073-10101 Nomenclature and Information Model. We would assume that support for IHE-PCD also implies support of IEEE 11073 Nomenclature and Information Model for Transmission of Patient Vital Signs from Medical Devices to Other Information Systems/Technologies. We suggest updating section I-V accordingly.

The IHE-PCD profile combines the HL7 syntax with the ISO/IEEE 11073-10101 Nomenclature and ISO/IEEE 11073-10201 Information Model. As mentioned previously in our comment to Section I-V, ONC should support the ISO/IEEE 11073-10101 Nomenclature and Information Model for Transmission of Patient Vital Signs from Medical Devices to Other Information Systems/Technologies. Furthermore, HL7 FHIR can also be used for this purpose. There are a number of pilot programs, including the Device on FHIR initiative, and it would be beneficial to track their progress as part of this advisory.
