Pharmacy Review and Process

Provider reviews e-prescribing expectations with patients, has staff dedicated to monitoring e-prescription logs, and electronically manages renewal requests

      • Question 2 of 8: Do you have dedicated staff assigned to monitor e-prescription status logs/queues?
      • Response: There are times that an e-prescription is created and processed but may not be routed to the pharmacy due to an error. EHR systems should have a prescription status log/queue for prescribers and their staff to monitor the status of their sent e-prescriptions. Individual format and display of these logs/queues vary across EHR systems. To avoid delays in patient care, it is recommended that dedicated staff monitor the e-prescription status log to proactively identify prescriptions that may not have been successfully transmitted and thus require additional attention. Contact members of your clinical and IT staff or EHR vendor if you are unable to locate the e-prescribing log.
