Provider enters directions for use and provides all required information to be transmitted to the pharmacy
- Question 4 of 5: Does the submitted e-prescription contain clinical observation information associated with the patient such as height and weight (and date measured) and is this routinely populated?
- Response: The e-prescribing standard allows you to send the patient’s height, weight and blood pressure measurements to the pharmacy for dosage calculations. Receipt of this information at the pharmacy enables the pharmacist to appropriately review and clinically validate the prescribed dosage and therapy. Some EHR vendors are able to send this information as part of the e-prescription. Contact members of your clinical and IT staff or EHR vendor to discuss. Additional support can be found in current NCPDP SCRIPT Implementation Recommendations.
