Competency Examination Program
The Health IT Competency Exam funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) laid the groundwork for the establishment of a nationwide program of competency examinations. The cooperative agreement with Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC) provided support for the development, testing and implementation of a mechanism to assess whether examinees have attained a certain set of health IT competencies. The grant also provided vouchers for free exams available to eligible individuals.
9,527 Health IT Professionals availed of the no cost competency test during the project period.
The project period for the funding ended April 1, 2013.
