Testing and Test Methods

2014 Edition Draft Test Scenarios

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) is developing draft test scenarios for the 2014 Edition EHR Certification Criteria for public input. ONC asks for thoughts on the concept, structure, usability, and clinical plausibility of the draft test scenarios posted below.

Once developed and approved by the National Coordinator, any test scenarios will be optional for use for testing and certifying EHR technology to the 2014 Edition EHR Certification Criteria under the ONC HIT Certification Program.

Helpful Materials

A test scenario is a set of unit-based procedures linked in a clinically plausible test flow using test data threaded in a logical fashion.

The following materials contain helpful information on the development and structure of the 2014 Edition Test Scenarios, and are intended to be used together:

Feedback

The draft test scenarios currently in development (including procedures and applicable tools and test data files) are posted below. ONC asks for thoughts on the concept, structure, usability, and clinical plausibility of the draft test scenarios posted below.

Please contact ONC's Office of Certification with any feedback. All e-mails should include "2014 Draft Test Scenarios" in the subject line. Please be as specific as possible in your feedback regarding the component of the test scenario for which you are providing input (i.e., test procedure, test data, or test tools), as well as references for locating applicable sections within the document (i.e., page, section number, etc.).
