Use Case Description(s) | |
Use Case Description | In order to support patient care coordination from one eye care provider to another (e.g. optometrist to ophthalmologist, or general ophthalmologist to retina specialist), the general data set represented by USCDI is insufficient since it does not include eye care structured data basic to care coordination. Also, for patients to see their ocular health information, these data points (IOP, VAs and refractions) are fundamental. |
Estimated number of stakeholders capturing, accessing using or exchanging | THere are many 10's of thousands of optometrists and ophthalmologists in the United States. |
