Required by the 21<sup>st<\/sup> Century Cures Act, the HITAC has been operational since 2018 and represents a wide range of health IT stakeholders who inform ONC\u2019s policies and programs.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The HITAC recommends policies, standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria to the national coordinator across four target areas: interoperability, privacy and security, patient access to information, and use of technologies that support public health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The HITAC had a busy 2021! In total, the HITAC held 10 full committee meetings including a Public Health Data Systems Hearing, 67 subcommittee meetings, produced 133 recommendations, and welcomed two new members. Check out this <a href=\"https:\/\/healthit.gov\/hitac\/health-information-technology-advisory-committee-hitac-history\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HITAC<\/a> for more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-s-new-for-the-hitac-in-2022\"><strong>What\u2019s New for the HITAC in 2022<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The HITAC will be just as busy in 2022! So far, we\u2019ve welcomed 8 new members. <a href=\"https:\/\/healthit.gov\/hitac\/membership\/\">View their full bios.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Medell Briggs-Malonson, MD, MPH, MSHS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hans Buitendijk<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Steve Eichner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rajesh Godavarthi, MS<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hung Luu, MD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aaron Neinstein, MD<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eliel Oliveira, MS, MBA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fillipe Southerland<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>And we\u2019ve got several new HITAC subcommittees teed up for this year, with two already underway:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The e-Prior Authorization Request for Information (RFI) Task Force is charged with providing input and recommendations in response to the ONC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2022\/01\/24\/2022-01309\/request-for-information-electronic-prior-authorization-standards-implementation-specifications-and\">RFI<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Interoperability Standards Workgroup is charged with evaluating and providing recommendations on the <a href=\"https:\/\/healthit.gov\/isa\/united-states-core-data-interoperability-uscdi#draft-uscdi-v3\">Draft USCDI Version 3<\/a> and other interoperability standards and identifying opportunities to update <a href=\"https:\/\/healthit.gov\/isa\/\">the ONC Interoperability Standards Advisory (ISA)<\/a> to address the HITAC priority uses of health IT, including related standards and implementation specifications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Later this year, we anticipate engaging a new Task Force to review and provide recommendations pending the release of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reginfo.gov\/public\/do\/eAgendaViewRule?pubId=202110&amp;RIN=0955-AA03\">ONC\u2019s planned Notice of Proposed Rulemaking<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are thankful to have an esteemed group of passionate individuals who volunteer their time and efforts to help advance the adoption of health IT and the promotion of nationwide, standards-based health information exchange to improve health care for all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-can-you-get-involved\"><strong>How Can You Get Involved?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Glad you asked.
