The ONC Certified Health IT Product List (CHPL) has undergone some significant changes over the past few years and we continue to make important upgrades to make it more responsive to the needs of the community.

Last fall, we added advanced search and display capabilities for Clinical Quality Measure (CQM) versioning updates and the ability to display publicly accessible Certification Test Results, which Steve Posnack blogged about in February:

The CHPL now has the ability to display optional Certification Grouping information for specific functional capabilities, referred to as a “Capability Tag”.

If you go to the CHPL, you have the option to search by this new “Capability Tag” under the 2014 Edition Door only. This is in addition to the “Search by Criteria Met” and “Search by CQM Met”. If you click on “Search by Capability Tag,” you will see the products that meet various capabilities.

The Capability Tag will be displayed in a new column once you start the search. The column will contain a green SRE icon to indicate products which have met the SRE Tag and the icon is pictured below for reference.

  You will be able to find this tag on the details page for each certified product on the CHPL to indicate that the EHR product meets the Capability Tag as well.

For now, the only capability tag available is for the Summary Record Exchange (SRE).  A certified Complete EHR or certified EHR Module listed on the CHPL with the “SRE” tag means that it was certified to three certification criteria that together support interoperable summary care record exchange.

The three specific certification criteria that are included in this capability tag are listed below:

• 45 CFR §170.314(b)(1) – Transitions of Care
• 45 CFR §170.314(b)(2) – Transitions of Care
• 45 CFR §170.314(b)(4) – Clinical Information Reconciliation
