ONC’s Regional Extension Centers Sign Up 100,000 Primary Care Providers

Today, we’d like to acknowledge an important milestone in our journey toward national electronic health record (EHR) adoption: ONC’s Regional Extension Centers (RECs) have signed up more than 100,000 primary care providers! This means that roughly one third of the nation’s primary care providers have committed to meaningfully using EHRs by partnering with their local REC. Momentum is building!

Ready for Meaningful Use Attestation

When the clock struck midnight on April 18, 2011, Jennifer Brull, MD, was ready. She had already registered for the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program. She had her certified EHR system firmly in place, and working with the Kansas Foundation for Medical Care , the Regional Extension Center for Kansas, she had confirmation that her practice met meaningful use criteria. Dr. Brull was ready to complete her online submission to the Attestation System and qualify for Medicare/Medicaid EHR incentives.

South Carolina REC: Fostering EHR Implementation across the State

More than 1,000 providers in South Carolina are now on the road to meaningful use, thanks to the efforts of the Center for Information Technology Implementation Assistance (CITIA-SC), the Regional Extension Center (REC) for the state. CITIA-SC, a program of Health Sciences South Carolina, is the second REC in the country to meet its initial recruitment goal.
